Release Date: June 30, 2009
Native captures the essence of the Trip Hop genre by taking the best elements of acid house, trance, hip hop, ambient, and world music. The tracks were produced by G.2, T. Fader, C. Campbell, B-True and Marc Paley at the original Pyramind headquarters at 39 Gilbert Street in San Francisco back in 1996-97. Three of the tracks (Bruthas, Trails & Tribeulations, and Telemetry) were originally released by a dance music division of Priority Records, Vox Lumania, on the compilation "Trance Ambient". The opening track, "Bruthas", quickly became a Trip Hop anthem and helped sell 70,000 units of the Trance Ambient compilation. The San Francisco based producers were credited as Native Budz on Trance Ambient, released in '98. The credit definitely proves relevant upon listening. Native's smoky grooves are inspired by the likes of Massive Attack, Soul II Soul, Public Enemy, Murk Records, Strictly Rhythm, D'esree and Future Sound Of London. Ideal for any DJ set, underground party, or living room pow wow, Native is sure to delight bass junkies and club goers alike. Featured here are eight never before released tracks.
