The next Test Press & Flux Summit will be held on Thursday, September 30th.

PRODUCERS: Submit your tracks and be heard!

Started in 2005 by the Electronic and Dance Music Committee of the San Francisco Chapter of The Recording Academy, Test Press was created by a handful of industry insiders (The Test Press Committee) with a grassroots mentality designed to bring DJs, musicians, vocalists, and producers together to present new music to the community.

These FREE quarterly events give local producers an opportunity to have their music heard and critiqued by respected industry leaders, and for the fans and attendees to discover new music and vote on their favorites.

Each Test Press event features a different 3-person panel of accomplished local musicians and performers. Before the event, members of the San Francisco community upload their tracks to the Epiphyte website, and after being screened for a minimum quality level, the accepted tracks are then played live for the panel and audience.

After listening, the audience applause level is measured and then the panelists give immediate feedback and rate each submission on a variety of factors. The combined tally of the audience applause meter and the panelists rating determine the finalists for each event. The finalists of each evening earn the chance to be featured on the yearly Test Press SF compilation, released on Epiphyte Records.

The original event in 2006 received over 200 song entries, which resulted in 15 tracks on the first TestPressSF CD compilation release, sponsored by Ableton Live and Pyramind.

The 2008 series of events received even more submissions, and resulted in 15 tracks released on TestPressSF.02, available now on iTunes.

The next Test Press event is coming up on Thursday, September 30th 2010. What are you waiting for?
